12. Rock On with Obama

The 2012 election may be months away, but the campaign trail is well on its way. President Obama, known for catering to younger voters with his campaign tactics, has released at 28-track official campaign playlist on one of the hottest music applications of the moment, Spotify. It is an eclectic mix of old and new songs meant to motive and inspire the nation for the future of our fair nation. From classics like Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” (hint, hint) to the hip and alternative track “We Used to Wait” by Arcade Fire, the playlist ranges all the way to country hits like “Everyday America” by Sugarland. The diverse collection is bound to please various musical tastes.

This is a great campaign strategy for a few reasons. Since Barrack Obama instilled his “Change” campaign for the 2008 election, his brand has focused on connecting feelings of hope and unity about the President. The playlist is another way to enforce the Commander-in-Chief’s values and goals for America. It also creates a personal connection with President Obama. If one of your favorite artists is on his playlist, you have something in common. And who wouldn’t want to have something in common with the President? Plus, if the Big Guy understands your music taste, he’ll understand your political thinking too, right? Well, maybe not but I think the Official Campaign Spotify Playlist is thinking out of the box and a great way to involve and engage Americans in the campaign. It’s inspired and inspiring.

However, I must say I am a little disappointed “Party in the U.S.A.” didn’t make the cut…
