Over the weekend, Beyonce and Jay-Z launched a blog titled “Hello Blue Ivy Carter” featuring the first images of their newborn daughter. Despite the fact the power couple could have made millions shopping the images to a tabloid as many other celebrities choose to do, they stayed their classy and humble selves by starting the blog.
According to this article by Ad Age, the couple has already taken the first steps to trademark the name Blue Ivy. Branding the name, which is sure to be one of the hottest in the industry, will stop other companies from swooping in and taking the name for their own brands or fashion lines. I’m sure hip mothers all over the world will jump at the chance to dress their own children up in clothes correlated with the Blue Ivy name.
Allegedly, outside parties have already attempted to trademark the name. Blue Ivy Communications, a Florida PR firm and designer Joseph Mbeh looked into branding the name as well after Hollywood’s newest little princess was born.
It will be interesting to see what direction the Carters go in after branding their daughter’s name. One can expect a line of baby clothes and accessories. The Blue Ivy brand is sure to be one of the most coveted in the world once it is launched by the Queen and King of hip hop. Blue, world’s most famous “celeb-u-tot” as Perez Hilton calls her, is sure to be one of the luckiest girls in the world. Oh how I would kill to raid Beyonce’s closet as a little girl! Can you imagine, playing dress up with your friends and putting on the infamous “Single Ladies” leotard?
